When the Wind Roars, His Word Still Stands
Mark 4:35–41
We read in Scripture that Jesus tells His disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” I don’t believe this was a suggestion, but a prophetic command. Words spoken by Jesus always carry the power to accomplish what He has spoken. His Word carries the power of fulfillment; what He declares cannot be stopped, blocked, or hindered.
“So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11
As they obeyed, a furious storm arose. The waves beat against the boat, the wind howled, and fear gripped their hearts.
Doesn’t that sound like life? The moment you step out in obedience, resistance rises up. The moment you move toward destiny, the enemy tries to shake your faith. But when the Holy Spirit leads us, we do not fear the storm. The Word of God has already guaranteed our arrival. If He said it, it will happen.
He is With You in the Storm
There are times you walk through challenges, trials, unwanted circumstances, times when it feels like storms are overtaking you, and you wonder if God is even near. But hear me: He is there. He is always there. He knows every situation and every detail. When all seems hopeless, call out to Jesus. He hears you, and He will answer.
I understand that the struggle is real, but I urge you not to let the weight of the world or your current difficulties cause you to forfeit what God intends to do in and through you. He is calling you to move forward.
You were not anointed to drift. You were not called to coast in calm waters. The Spirit is summoning us to cross over, into deeper faith, greater authority, and the fullness of God’s promise.
Growth is birthed in the storm. Growth is proven when you keep moving forward though the winds rage. This is not the hour to turn back; this is the hour to cross over. Now Is the Time.
The disciples may have thought their assignment was just a boat ride. But Jesus was teaching them this: storms are not setbacks; they are sanctuaries where faith is stretched and proven.
The storm cannot stop what His Word is carrying to the other side. The Storm Is Not the End!
The disciples cried out, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” Mark 4:38. But Jesus stood and rebuked the wind: “Peace, be still!” Immediately, the storm bowed to His authority. Remember this: every knee shall bow in the name of Jesus!
The storm is never greater than the Savior who rides with you. Yes, the storm may still rage, yes, life may still be “life-ing,” trials may still press, but the peace of God that surpasses understanding will guard your heart and mind.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” Psalm 46:1–3
The presence of Christ in your boat means the waves cannot destroy you.
Jesus asked them, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Mark 4:40.
Crossing over isn’t about waiting for the waters to calm; it’s about unshakable faith. Faith that says, “If He said it, I believe it. If He promised it, He will perform it.”
Joshua and the Israelites had to cross the Jordan to enter the Promised Land. Joshua 3:14–17. The waters didn’t move until their feet stepped in.
Faith moves. Faith trusts. Faith steps forward when everything in you wants to turn back.
Listen in the Spirit: the other side is more than a location, it’s destiny.
In Mark 5, on the other side of that storm, was a man bound by a legion of demons. One encounter with Jesus set him free and ignited revival across Decapolis.
The storm was never just about the disciples. It was about the breakthrough waiting beyond them.
And the storm you’re facing right now? It’s not only about you. It’s about the souls, the freedom, the revival on the other side of your obedience.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37
The Spirit empowers you not just to survive the crossing, but to carry freedom, healing, and breakthrough to others.
Do not fear the crossing. Do not despise the storm. The wind and the waves still know the name of Jesus.
Step out in faith. Watch Him silence every storm that rises against you.
Heavenly Father, thank You that You are the God who speaks peace in the midst of every storm. Thank You that Your Word secures our crossing. Today, we refuse fear and we choose faith. Take us to the other side; not just for our sake, but for the souls waiting to encounter Your glory through our obedience. We declare it in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
The Greatest Crossing of All
Maybe as you read this, you realize you’ve been weathering storms without Jesus in your boat. The greatest “crossing over” any of us can make is from death to life, from darkness to light, from being lost to being found in Christ.
“Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” John 5:24
Today, you can make that decision. Pray this from your heart:
“Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I confess that I need You. Forgive me, change me, and live in me. Today, I cross over into new life with You. I declare that I am Yours, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
If you prayed that prayer, I’m excited for you. Welcome to the family of God! You’ve crossed over into a brand-new life. I encourage you to connect with a Bible-believing church, grow in the Word, and be filled with the Holy Spirit, who will empower you for the journey ahead.
