"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15

Over the past few months, I’ve been in and out of doctor appointments—more than I can count.

But somewhere in the middle of all of those appointments, I found myself thinking about something very simple.

When we go to a doctor, we expect them to know.  We trust that they know.

We expect them to have studied, to understand what they’re doing, to recognize what’s wrong, and to guide us toward healing.

We don’t want a doctor to guess. We don’t want someone unprepared. We want someone who has taken the time to learn, because our well-being depends on it.  God blessed me with really great doctors, and after praying, I felt that He was the One who placed each one of them in my life in this season.

And as I sat with that thought, the Holy Spirit gently began to speak to my heart.

Just as we expect that level of diligence in the natural.  How much more should we, as believers, be committed to knowing the Word of God?

Because lives depend on it.  Not just our lives, but the lives of the people God has placed around us.

Scripture tells us to correctly handle the Word of truth. That means we don’t just quote verses when it sounds good.

We slow down. We study. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us understand.

We don’t just hear the Word, we live it.  And we don’t just talk about Jesus, we reflect Him.  Another way to say this is, we walk what we talk about.

Because we are not just handling words, we are carrying the Gospel, the One True Gospel.

Just like a doctor studies the human body with intention, we are called to study the Word of God—because it brings life, healing, and transformation.

But here’s what the Holy Spirit began to press even deeper into my heart.

It doesn’t stop at knowing.  We have been entrusted with something far greater than information.

We’ve been entrusted with truth.  Eternal truth.

We’ve been entrusted with the One True Gospel.  The message that saves, heals, delivers, and transforms.

There are people assigned to your life, whether you realize it or not, who are watching how you live. They’re listening to how you speak. And in many ways, they’re encountering Jesus through you. That’s why this isn’t a place for guesswork.  This isn’t a place for watered-down truth or opinions replacing Scripture.

We cannot afford to dilute the One True Gospel.

We have to know the Word.  And we must obey the Word.

Because studying the Word isn’t optional. Lives truly depend on it. And here’s the part we can’t ignore.

The call has never been just about learning; it has always been about living and demonstrating.

Jesus didn’t only say, “teach them.”  He also said:

“As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick… drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” Matthew 10:7–8

The Gospel was never meant to stay in our heads. It was meant to flow through our lives.

The One True Gospel is power. It transforms.  It reveals the Kingdom of God.

When you look at the early Church, they understood this so clearly.

They didn’t separate teaching from power. They didn’t just talk about Jesus; they demonstrated His authority.  And lives were changed.  Right in front of them.

That’s why Word without power is incomplete.

And if we’re honest, it’s easy to lean one way or the other.  But Jesus never separated the two.

He taught, and He healed. He spoke truth, and He set people free.

And now, He has entrusted that same mission to us.

To carry the One True Gospel—not in theory, but in demonstration.  Not in our own strength, but through the power of the Holy Spirit.

This isn’t about trying harder or performing.  It’s about abiding

.

Because real authority flows from intimacy with God.

When you are rooted in the Word and led by the Spirit, something shifts. When we step out in obedience, God moves.

And we must remember, people are depending on us.

Just like we trust doctors in the natural, God is calling us to be faithful in the spiritual.

Prepared. Surrendered. Obedient.

Because some people don’t just need encouragement; they need healing and freedom.  They need truth that breaks what has been holding them bound.

They need the One True Gospel.

And God, in His wisdom, has chosen to work through His people.

Through you. So, this is really a call to all of us. The Holy Spirit is calling us higher.

Beyond surface-level Christianity, beyond routine, beyond comfort. Into a life that is rooted in the Word, led by the Spirit, and marked by the power of God.

A life that carries the One True Gospel with clarity, conviction, and compassion.

This is about surrender.  Because when the Word and the Spirit come together, lives are truly transformed.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humility and reverence for what You have entrusted to us. Forgive us for the times we have taken Your Word lightly. For speaking without studying, teaching without understanding, and shrinking back when You have called us to step forward. Holy Spirit, ignite within us a deep hunger for Your Word. Give us wisdom, revelation, and understanding as we study. Teach us how to correctly handle truth and live it with integrity. Lord, do not let us stop at knowledge alone. We ask that You fill us with boldness to walk in the authority You have given us. Teach us how to pray for the sick, stand against darkness, and minister with compassion, wisdom, boldness, and power. Let our lives reflect Jesus, not only in what we say, but in what we do. For every person You have assigned to our lives, help us to lead them well, by Your Spirit and for Your glory.  We surrender fully.  In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

If you are reading this and you do not know Jesus, or you feel far from Him, this is your moment. Jesus taught that to enter the Kingdom of God, we must be born again, made new through faith in Him. If you are unsure what that means or have never made that decision, I encourage you to connect with a mature believer who can walk with you into this life-changing step, into baptism, and into new life in Jesus Christ.

Get planted. Find a Bible-teaching, Holy Spirit-filled church family that will pray for you, love you, disciple you, and walk alongside you. Pursue Jesus with your whole heart and watch Him transform your life.
