If It Doesn’t Align With the Word of God, Don’t Receive It

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.” (1 John 4:1)
Have you ever had someone speak into your life, and instantly, the Holy Spirit checked your spirit, and you knew, “That is not from God?”
You kept your composure, your smile stayed in place, but inside your spirit rose up and said, “Reject that. It cannot take root here.”
We are living in a time where voices are everywhere. Opinions fill our screens, advice fills our conversations, and even people who mean well may speak things into our lives that are in opposition to what God has said. There are those times when it’s not a loud attack, it’s a slight suggestion, a comment, a thought, a social media post, or even an insecurity that tries to settle in your spirit. And if we're not careful, we begin agreeing with things God never spoke over us and carry things He never assigned to us.
Allow me to share this in love and truth: if it does not align with the Word of God, don’t receive it.
There is a divine urgency in this moment; not to live by feelings, culture, or popular thought, but to stand firm in Scripture. God is calling His daughters and His sons to discernment, to clarity, and to unwavering alignment with His voice. Not every word is for you. Not every idea is from God. Not every “encouragement” is sent from God.
Prophecy must submit to Scripture. Encouragement must yield to truth.
Comfort cannot compromise holiness.
“Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.” (John 17:17 )
Truth does not change. Truth is not driven by emotion or shaped by culture. Truth is Jesus Christ, and His Word stands as the final authority.
When circumstances look impossible, answer with,
“With God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
And when doubt tries to creep in, respond confidently,
“He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)
You have the authority to reject anything that does not align with God’s Word. Guard your heart. Guard your mind. Guard your spirit. Guard your atmosphere.
The Holy Spirit is sharpening your discernment in this season. He is training your ears to recognize His voice above every other sound. I pray that you are sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit. I pray that He gives you eyes to see, ears to hear, and an open heart to receive exactly what He is saying.
Stand on truth. Stand in faith. Stand on the Word. If God didn’t say it, it has no right to take root in your life.
Holy Spirit, if You say “move,” I’ll move.
If You say “wait,” I’ll wait.
If You say “no,” I’ll surrender.
Lead me beyond my understanding. I choose obedience over opinion and truth over deception.
Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name, purify my hearing and align my heart with Your Word. Let Your truth be my foundation, and my fortress. Silence every lie, remove every false voice, and reveal anything spoken that did not come from Your heart. Holy Spirit, increase my discernment. Strengthen me to reject what is not from You and to embrace only what aligns with Your Word. In Jesus’ name! Amen.
If you are reading this and do not yet know Jesus, or if you once walked with Him but have drifted away, repent now and turn to Him today. The Lord is calling you home. Repentance is not shame; it is freedom.
It is turning from our way and yielding to His way.
It is laying down the old life and stepping into grace, mercy, and newness in Christ.
Jesus taught that to enter the Kingdom of God, we must be born again, made new through faith in Him. If you're unsure what that means or you’ve never made that decision, I encourage you to connect with a mature believer who can help guide you into that life-changing step and walk with you into baptism and new life in Jesus Christ.
I encourage you to get planted. Find a Bible-teaching, Holy Spirit-filled church family that will pray for you, love you, disciple you, and walk alongside you.
Pursue Jesus with your whole heart and watch Him transform your life.
