There Is More for Us

“Then He said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me.’” Luke 9:23
There is a quiet place many believers drift into if we’re not intentional.
It’s not rebellion or a lack of love for Jesus.
It’s settling. Settling into a rhythm where attending church becomes the goal instead of the beginning.
We show up, we listen, we leave.
And if we’re not careful, we begin to believe that this is what it means to follow Christ. But there is more, so much more.
Jesus didn’t call us to attend church; He called us to follow, and that is more than attending.
Church attendance is a blessing. It matters. We are called to gather together, worship together, encourage one another, and grow in faith together. But Christianity was never meant to stop at sitting in a service once a week.
Jesus calls us to live surrendered lives daily, to walk with Him, obey Him, love people, serve others, deny ourselves, and be led by the Holy Spirit. Following Jesus is not just about being present in a building; it’s about being transformed by His presence wherever we go.
We can attend church faithfully and still miss the deeper call to truly follow Christ. A follower doesn’t just hear the Word; they live it. A follower pursues intimacy with Jesus beyond Sunday mornings. A follower carries the Gospel into everyday life.
The goal is not simply church attendance. The goal is Christlikeness.
Luke 9:23 makes it clear that this is a daily walk. Surrender, obedience, and choosing Him. This is where real growth happens.
There is more for us.
More than routine, more than just showing up, more than simply claiming faith.
There is more of His presence available, more of His power at work in us. Even more purpose waiting to be walked out through our lives.
And this is not just individual, it’s collective.
God is calling His people higher.
We were never meant to gather and remain unchanged, or hear truth and not walk in it.
We were never meant to be comfortable when the Holy Spirit is drawing us deeper.
There is more for us in prayer, surrender, boldness, and more for us in living Spirit-led lives.
The invitation is open.
Not just to attend, but to follow.
Not just to listen, but to respond.
Not just to believe, but to become.
“I absolutely love that God has called me to preach, but He has also called me to do more than simply preach sermons.”
Preaching matters deeply; the Word of God is powerful and life-changing.
“But I know my calling goes far beyond preaching. My heart is to see lives truly transformed through the power and presence of God. I don’t want people to simply hear the Word and walk away unchanged. I don’t want us to become comfortable sitting in a seat while God is calling us to step out in faith. I long to see people encounter the presence of God in a real and personal way. I desire to see chains broken, hearts healed, and lives restored. I long to see believers rise up and walk in the fullness of who God has called them to be.”
May I never do ministry out of routine but always live surrendered to the Holy Spirit.
Ministry is not about going through the motions; it’s about living a life of surrender.
Not just preparing messages, but living them.
Not just speaking truth, but walking in obedience daily.
Because at the end of the day, God is not calling us to be spectators; He is raising up disciples.
Matthew 4:19
19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
Matthew 28:19
19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Don’t Settle.
If you’ve felt a stirring in your spirit lately, if you’ve sensed that there is something more.
You’re right.
I believe the Holy Spirit is inviting you deeper.
Don’t ignore it.
Don’t push it aside.
Don’t settle into comfort.
Lean in.
Say yes to more prayer, to deeper surrender and obedience, even when it stretches you.
Because everything changes when we move from attending to following.
Church is not the finish line; it’s the gathering place.
What happens beyond the walls matters just as much.
You were created for more than sitting in a seat.
You were created to walk with Jesus daily.
To hear His voice.
To be led by the Holy Spirit.
To live out your faith boldly.
There is more for us.
And it begins with a surrendered yes.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for calling me into more than routine.
Thank You for inviting me to truly follow You.
Stir my heart for deeper surrender.
Break every place where I have settled.
Holy Spirit, lead me into the fullness of all You have for me.
I don’t want to just attend, I want to be transformed.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
If you are reading this and you do not know Jesus, or you feel far from Him, this is your moment. Jesus taught that to enter the Kingdom of God, we must be born again, made new through faith in Him. If you are unsure what that means or have never made that decision, I encourage you to connect with a mature believer who can walk with you into this life-changing step, into baptism, and into new life in Jesus Christ.
Get planted. Find a Bible-teaching, Holy Spirit-filled church family that will pray for you, love you, disciple you, and walk alongside you. Pursue Jesus with your whole heart and watch Him transform your life.
To Him be the glory forever and ever!
