“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

This Scripture is one of my favorites. Every time I read it, it centers me, grounds me, and redirects my focus back to the One who holds my path. Matthew 6:33 has carried me through seasons of clarity and seasons of confusion, and it continues to speak to me in deeper ways, even now.

If you know me, you know I have a passion for prayer runs and reflection. That has always been one of the sacred places where God speaks to me, through the steady rhythm of my steps, in the quiet spaces, on the open trail where it’s just me and the Holy Spirit.

In this season, my prayer runs have temporarily become prayer walks. But this is only temporary.I am grateful for God’s presence at all times. The same God who met me on the run is meeting me on the walk. And I am looking forward to the day when I will be running again, feeling His strength in every stride.

I lace up my shoes whenever I need to clear my mind, breathe in God’s presence, and hear what the Spirit is saying. And if you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know I’ve shared this story many times. But every time God brings it back to my spirit, He adds fresh revelation.

One day, a few years ago, I was out on a run in unfamiliar territory.  My GPS was on, my route was set, and my confidence was high. But somehow, even with the GPS guiding me, I took a turn, then another. The scenery no longer matched what I expected. The road signs looked unfamiliar. The trail felt off. And the GPS kept spinning, recalculating, as if it no longer knew where I was.

As I was writing this blog, I began thinking about each person who may read it, and a thought rose in my spirit:

In life, there may have been a time or times when you have felt lost.

Not physically, but spiritually, emotionally, mentally, or maybe even purpose-wise.

You may have been moving with intention, trying to do what’s right, taking steps you thought were leading you somewhere good. But suddenly, looking around and realizing nothing looks familiar anymore. Life can feel exactly like that.

But here’s what amazes me every time God brings this memory back:

Even when I went off course on my run, the GPS didn’t shut down.It didn’t give up.It didn’t say, “You’re on your own.”It just kept rerouting, adjusting,  and redirecting.Working behind the scenes to get me where I needed to be.

The Holy Spirit always reminds me that this is what happens when we seek Him first.

Today, I am led by the Spirit to tell you this:

Even when you drift, the Holy Spirit still knows exactly how to get you where you’re supposed to be.

Matthew 6:33 has always been, and will always be, divine direction.

Seek Him first before reacting, before assuming, before overthinking, and before letting fear dictate your path.

When God is first, clarity follows, direction follows, provision follows, and peace follows.

You may be walking through a season right now where life has rerouted you in ways you never prepared for.

Maybe the diagnosis rerouted you, the loss rerouted you, the disappointment rerouted you. Maybe the waiting rerouted you. Just like the GPS recalculated my course, I encourage you to allow the Holy Spirit to recalculate yours. He knows the path, the turns, the timing, and He knows how to bring you into the exact place He intended all along.

Your assignment is not to try to predict every step. No, your assignment is to seek Him first.  And He will take care of the rest.

You may not understand where you are right now, but God does. And He is guiding you, step by step, with purpose and the unmistakable leading of the Holy Spirit.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my guide and my compass. When life feels unfamiliar, and the path seems unclear, remind me to seek You first. Redirect my steps, align my heart with Your will, and lead me in the direction You’ve prepared. Thank You for never abandoning me, even when I drift or get rerouted. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

If you’re reading this and Jesus is not Lord of your life, or if you’ve wandered and want to return to Him, this moment is for you. He wants to lead you into peace, purpose, and new beginnings.

Jesus taught that to enter the Kingdom of God; we must be born again, made new through faith in Him. If you're unsure what that means, or you’ve never made that decision, I encourage you to connect with a mature believer who can walk with you into this life-changing step and into baptism and new life in Jesus Christ

Get planted.  Find a Bible-teaching, Holy Spirit-filled church family that will pray for you, love you, disciple you, and walk alongside you.

Pursue Jesus with your whole heart, and watch Him transform your life.Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
