When Opinions Don’t Align With God’s Truth

“After the Lord had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, ‘I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.’” (Job 42:7 )

I’ve shared on this many times, but I believe it bears repeating in this hour: discernment is not optional; it’s essential.

There will always be voices that try to interpret your struggle through the lens of human judgment instead of God’s truth.

Some will speak out of their own assumptions. Some will speak out of fear. And some will speak out of religious reasoning that has no roots in the heart of God.

And that’s exactly what happened to Job.

Remember this; when you’re hurting, not every voice is a holy voice. Job was already walking through unexplainable loss, sickness in his body, grief in his heart, and confusion in his soul, and instead of comfort, his friends brought conclusions.

They were saying that Job must have done something wrong. They argued that suffering is a direct result of sin. They consistently urged Job to confess his sin and repent so that God would restore him.Basically, they were saying, “This must be your fault.”

But God Himself said they were wrong.

Just because someone is close to you does not mean they understand what God is doing in you.Just because a voice is loud does not mean it carries God’s truth.Just because someone has an opinion does not mean that opinion came from the Spirit of God.Sometimes the enemy uses familiar voices to plant unfamiliar lies.

Your struggles are not always a consequence; sometimes they are a battle in a broken world. We live in a fallen world. Pain, sickness, disease, disappointment, heartbreak.  None of these existed before sin entered the world.

Genesis 3 shows us that after the fall, the ground was cursed, bodies became fragile, and suffering became part of the human condition.Sickness is not a punishment from God.Trials are not God’s way of “getting back at you.”Hard seasons are not God withdrawing His love. They are the result of a broken creation waiting for full redemption Romans 8:22–23.

This world changed after Adam and Eve disobeyed, but God’s heart did not.

Job’s friends believed suffering meant guilt. But God was revealing something entirely different:The very place of adversity can become the place where God reveals His glory, character, and sovereignty.  Who He truly is.

Sometimes your trial is not about what you did wrong, it’s about what God is preparing to make right.Sometimes your suffering is not a sign of failure; it’s a setup for testimony. And sometimes the silence of God is not His absence, it’s His deep work in the unseen places of your heart.

Be careful which voices you receive in your valley, when you're tired, when you're sick, when you're emotionally worn, when you're praying for healing, when you’re battling trials, you never expected.

That is when the enemy loves to send voices, opinions, assumptions, and suggestions that try to interpret your situation outside the truth of Scripture.

And hear this closely:Just because an opinion is offered doesn’t mean it deserves a seat at your table. And even more, don’t let the opinions of others cause you to forfeit your God-ordained assignment.

If it doesn’t align with the Word of God, do not receive it.

People may say, “If you had more faith.”But Scripture says, “My grace is sufficient.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Voices may say, “You’re being punished.”But Romans 8:1 says there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Thoughts may whisper, “You’re alone.”But Hebrews 13:5 says He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Your body may feel weak. But Psalm 73:26 declares God is the strength of your heart.

Job’s story teaches us something powerful:God will defend you when the voices around you misunderstand you.

Here’s a kingdom truth we all need to hold onto:Calling is not fragile, assignment is not seasonal, and purpose is not canceled by pressure.

Seasons change, but God’s call remains.Pressure doesn’t break it; it proves it.Fire doesn’t remove it; it refines it.

What tries to stop the work often strengthens the worker. What looks like resistance becomes reinforcement. What feels like delay becomes divine development.

Because trials don’t steal calling, they deepen it.Hard seasons don’t quiet your voice; they fortify it.And opposition doesn’t disqualify; you are being prepared for more.

Just as Job came out with a deeper revelation of God,you will come out with greater oil, greater fire, and greater authority.

God never said Job caused his suffering.  God never agreed with the accusations. And God never let the wrong voices have the last word.

Instead, God restored, redeemed, renewed, and revived. He still does.

What the enemy meant for destruction, God turned into restoration.

Even in a fallen world, God still heals, delivers, and redeems. He is still present, faithful, and sovereign.

Hear me in the spirit:The presence of suffering does not mean the absence of God.Sometimes the valley becomes the very place where His glory breaks forth.

Father, I thank You that You are the God who sees, the God who knows, and the God who stays.Silence every voice that is not of You.Guard our hearts from opinions that do not align with Your Word.Strengthen those who are walking through sickness, trial, or confusion. Remind them that suffering came from the fall, but salvation came through the cross.Heal, restore, renew, and reveal Yourself in their valley. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

What God has spoken over you is louder, stronger, and more enduring than any opinion ever could be.

If you do not know Jesus, or if you feel far from Him, this is your moment. Jesus taught that to enter the Kingdom of God, we must be born again, made new through faith in Him. If you’re unsure what that means, or you’ve never made that decision, I encourage you to connect with a mature believer who can walk with you into this life-changing step, into baptism, and into new life in Jesus Christ.

Get planted. Find a Bible-teaching, Holy Spirit-filled church family that will pray for you, love you, disciple you, and walk alongside you. Pursue Jesus with your whole heart and watch Him transform your life.
